Oddendale Landscape and Heritage Walk

Shake Holes, Cairns and Bields – a walk exploring the landscape and heritage of the fells near Oddendale.

Join FLD’s David Evans on this walk to explore our local landscape.

The walk is free to attend – but please make a donation, if you can, to help support the organisations running these events.

A walk led by David Evans, a volunteer with Friends of the Lake District, exploring the hidden heritage of the westernmost part of the Westmorland Dales on the fells to the east of Shap. The landscape is rooted in its geological foundations, has been shaped by repeated glaciations and by people over the last 10,000 years. The walk will look for clues in the landscape that help tell us something about its history including shake-holes in the limestone, prehistoric cairns, and bields from more recent times.
